The rain had just begun to fall in earnest as they dashed under a large overhang in a cliff face. Despite the forecasted rain, Katie had insisted that the weatherman couldn’t predict the weather even when looking out his window. So, she had picked up Nicole and Maddy to go on a picnic hike. It had been a lovely day, Maddy mused, at least until five minutes ago, but now she was dreaming of chicken noodle soup and warm blankets. For the moment, however, the three girls bickered as they set out their picnic under the shelter and began eating as they waited for the storm to pass.
